Job summary

Eliassen Group is seeking a Senior Android Developer to lead the design, development, and maintenance of core Android applications. This remote contract role collaborates with product managers, UX/UI designers, and backend engineers to deliver scalable, high-performance experiences.

You will mentor junior engineers, guide architecture decisions (MVVM/MVP/Clean), and own API integration, testing, and CI/CD efforts. Strong Kotlin/Java skills are essential.

Qualifications

• 5+ to 8+ years of professional mobile development experience focused on Android.
• Proficiency in Kotlin and Java.
• Extensive experience with Android SDK, Android Studio, Gradle, and modern UI frameworks including Jetpack Compose and Material Design.
• Experience with Retrofit, Room, SQLite, and asynchronous data handling.
• Preferred: Experience with cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or GCP.
• Preferred: Published apps on Google Play Store.

Responsibilities

• Design & Build: Develop advanced, resilient Android applications from scratch or by enhancing existing codebases.
• Architecture: Own MVVM/MVP/Clean Architecture and ensure SOLID principles.
• API Integration: Integrate with RESTful APIs, JSON, WebSockets, and backend services.
• Optimization & Quality: Profile performance, address memory leaks, reduce crashes and ANRs, and write unit/instrumentation tests.
• Collaboration & Mentorship: Participate in Agile ceremonies, perform code reviews, mentor team members.
• CI/CD & Deployment: Manage Git-based source control, contribute to CI/CD pipelines, and support Google Play release management.
