Job summary

Clarus is seeking an experienced Analytics Engineer to own the analytics engineering process and bridge Data Engineering and Analytics delivery. You will build, expand, and optimize Clarus’s analytics architecture and pipelines, transforming raw data into reliable models and metrics using dbt, SQL, Python, and Databricks.

The ideal candidate is hands-on, can lead multiple projects, and set technical direction while mentoring others. This remote U.S. role aligns with Eastern or Central Time hours.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or higher in computer science, data engineering, analytics, information systems, mathematics, or related field.
• 8+ years of relevant data and analytics experience with senior ownership of production analytics data models.
• Advanced SQL skills and complex transformations.
• Deep dbt experience with scalable model architecture, testing, and deployment workflows.
• Strong Databricks experience, including Delta Lake and performance tuning.
• Strong Python skills for data processing, testing, and automation.
• Understanding of dimensional modeling and data governance.
• Experience with Git, CI/CD, code review, automated testing, and environment management.
• Ability to translate ambiguous business needs into clear technical designs and communicate with senior leaders.

Responsibilities

• Own analytics engineering work, including roadmap, priorities, standards, and practices.
• Design analytics architecture across bronze, silver, and gold data layers.
• Build and optimize dbt models transforming source data into analytics-ready datasets.
• Write and optimize advanced SQL; use Python for data transformation and automation.
• Develop dimensional data models to support dashboards and data products.
• Document KPI definitions, data contracts, and data ownership.
• Establish automated tests, data quality checks, and lineage monitoring.
• Promote best practices: Git, CI/CD, code reviews, and environment promotion.
