Job summary

Clarus is seeking an experienced Analytics Engineer to own the analytics engineering process, bridging Data Engineering and Analytics. You will build and optimize analytics architecture, transform data, and deliver analytics-ready datasets using dbt, SQL, Python, and Databricks.

You will lead this remote U.S. role from a distance, guiding data products, maintaining governance, and mentoring others while partnering with stakeholders and analysts for scalable solutions.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or higher in computer science, data engineering, analytics, information systems, mathematics, or related discipline.
• 8+ years leading analytics engineering and production data models with standards.
• Advanced SQL skills with complex transformations and debugging.
• Deep dbt experience including scalable model architecture, testing, and production deployment.
• Strong Python for data processing, validation, automation, and utilities.
• Experience with Databricks (Delta Lake, Spark SQL, Unity Catalog) and performance tuning.
• Knowledge of dimensional modeling and metric governance.

Responsibilities

• Own analytics engineering work, including roadmap, standards, and practices.
• Design and evolve analytics architecture across bronze, silver, and gold layers.
• Build and optimize dbt models transforming data into analytics-ready datasets.
• Write and optimize SQL; use Python for data transformations and automation.
• Develop data models for dashboards, self-service analysis, and data products.
• Define KPI definitions, data contracts, and authoritative sources.
• Implement tests, lineage, documentation, and data quality monitoring.
• Establish Git-based development, CI/CD, and controlled promotion.
• Collaborate with Data Engineering on ingestion and handoffs.
• Work with analysts and BI to translate requirements into scalable models.
• Improve Databricks performance and cost efficiency.
• Lead data-quality investigations and remediation.
• Strengthen data governance and access controls.
• Migrate ad hoc logic into governed dbt models.
• Design resilient models for historical analysis and evolving definitions.
• Create technical documentation and enablement materials.
• Mentor team to raise analytics engineering capabilities.
