Job summary
Smithfield Foods is seeking an experienced Ammonia Refrigeration Engineer to support our US Fresh and Packaged Meat facilities. You will collaborate with facilities teams and project engineering to develop capital infrastructure plans and implement refrigeration systems across sites.
The role requires a Bachelor's in Engineering, several ammonia-related certifications, and a deep understanding of industrial refrigeration.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or related field is required.
- RETA CIRO certification, ANSI/IIAR2 certification, Garden City Program Operator II certification or equivalent is required.
- Strong understanding of industrial refrigeration systems and their applications.
- Excellent reading, math, writing and analytical skills.
- Willingness to travel 50% of the time and work across multiple facilities.
Responsibilities
- Support US Fresh and Packaged Meat Facilities; collaborate with facilities teams and project engineering on Capital Infrastructure Plans.
- Design and implement refrigeration solutions; select equipment, obtain quotes, schedule work.
- Assist in planning and budgeting for utilities engineering projects and optimize utility systems.
- Conduct research and testing of new technology; assess operations and improve processes across sites.
