Job summary

US Foods seeks a Senior Refrigeration Systems Engineer to design, optimize, and manage ammonia and Freon refrigeration systems across multiple facilities. You will lead lifecycle management, drive reliability, and implement energy-efficient upgrades.

This remote position requires extensive collaboration with Operations, Maintenance, IT and vendors, and mentoring of engineering teams. A Bachelor's in Engineering and relevant certs are preferred, with significant travel.

Qualifications

Five years in industrial refrigeration or cold chain engineering.
Experience with ammonia and Freon refrigeration systems, HVAC/mechanical systems, troubleshooting, and preventive maintenance.
Experience managing multi-site operations and technical teams.
Knowledge of OSHA, EPA, PSM, IIAR, energy efficiency and automation.
Experience with CMMS systems, maintenance planning, and capital project execution.
Ability to travel >40% in early years.

Responsibilities

Lead design, implementation, optimization, and lifecycle management of facility and operational systems for reliability and efficiency.
Provide advanced technical support for infrastructure, automation, controls, mechanical and electrical systems.
Collaborate with Operations, Engineering, Maintenance, IT, EHS and external vendors on improvements and initiatives.
Monitor system performance, analyze trends, and develop solutions to improve uptime and capacity.
Lead root cause analyses and implement corrective and preventive actions.
Develop and maintain engineering standards, procedures, and system documentation.
Support capital projects, equipment installations, and facility upgrades from concept to startup.
Evaluate modernization strategies and emerging technologies to meet goals.
Ensure safety, environmental, regulatory, and company standards compliance.
Develop long-range infrastructure and capital planning with leadership.
Mentor engineering, maintenance, and operations teams.
Coordinate external contractors and vendors for quality and cost control.
