Job summary

Thomson Reuters is seeking a Staff Software Engineer / Architect – AI to join the CoCounsel Forward Deployed Engineering team. You will work with customers to understand problems, design AI-powered solutions, and deploy them into production.

The role blends AI engineering, architecture, product development, and customer delivery. The ideal candidate is hands-on with experience in production AI/ML systems, architectures, and working directly with customers to solve complex enterprise challenges.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of software engineering experience with production systems
• Hands-on software engineering and architecture experience
• Experience deploying production AI/ML or LLM-powered systems
• Experience with LLMs, RAG, agents, evaluation, MLOps/LLMOps, observability, and enterprise integrations
• Experience working with customers or stakeholders to identify problems and design solutions
• Strong knowledge of scalable APIs, services, distributed systems and production practices
• Ability to guide projects through discovery to deployment and production support
• Strong communication to explain complex tech to diverse audiences

Responsibilities

• Partner with customers and stakeholders to translate problems into AI solutions
• Architect, build, and deliver production-grade AI applications and services
• Develop solutions leveraging LLMs, RAG, agentic workflows, evaluation frameworks, and enterprise integrations
• Design secure, scalable architectures that integrate with customer-owned and Thomson Reuters infrastructure
• Contribute hands-on to software development, APIs, services, deployment, and production operations
• Build reusable components and frameworks for multiple customer engagements
• Establish observability, monitoring, MLOps/LLMOps, security and governance practices
• Participate in design reviews and mentor engineers on architecture and implementation
• Collaborate across engineering, product, and customer-facing teams to drive solutions to production
