Job summary

Thomson Reuters is seeking a Staff Software Engineer / Architect – AI to join the CoCounsel Forward Deployed Engineering team. This role sits at the intersection of AI engineering, architecture, product development, and customer delivery.

You will work directly with customers to understand complex business and technical problems, design the right AI-powered solution, and help build and deploy that solution into production.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of software engineering with production systems experience.
• Hands-on software engineering and architectural design background.
• Proven experience deploying production AI/ML or LLM-powered systems.
• Experience with LLMs, RAG, agents, evaluation, MLOps/LLMOps, observability, and enterprise integrations.
• Experience working with customers or stakeholders to identify technical problems and craft solutions.
• Strong knowledge of scalable APIs, services, distributed systems, cloud platforms, and production software practices.

Responsibilities

• Partner with customers and stakeholders to translate problems into scalable AI solutions.
• Architect, build, and deliver production-grade AI applications and services.
• Develop solutions leveraging LLMs, RAG, agentic workflows, evaluation frameworks, and enterprise integrations.
• Design secure, scalable architectures that integrate with customer and Thomson Reuters infrastructure.
• Contribute hands-on to software development, APIs, services, deployment, and production operations.
• Build reusable components, patterns, and frameworks for multiple engagements.
• Establish observability, monitoring, evaluation, MLOps/LLMOps, security, and governance practices.
• Participate in design reviews and mentor engineers on architecture and implementation.
• Collaborate across engineering, product, and customer-facing teams from discovery to production deployment.
