U.S. Bank seeks an AI Scientist to join the AI CoE, advancing the bank's AI strategy through applied research, rapid prototyping, and enterprise deployment.

This role spans the full AI lifecycle from exploratory research to production-grade solutions, blending scientific rigor with practical engineering. You will stay current with academic and industry advances and collaborate across teams to deliver scalable AI capabilities.

Qualifications

• PhD in Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, Applied Mathematics, Statistics, Computational Linguistics, or a related field strongly preferred.
• Deep expertise in machine learning, deep learning, neural networks, transformer architectures, and foundation models.
• Experience with generative AI technologies, including LLMs, fine‑tuning, RAG systems, model evaluation, and inference optimization.
• Experience building and evaluating agentic AI systems, multi‑agent workflows, AI orchestration frameworks, and autonomous decision‑making architectures.

Responsibilities

• Monitor, evaluate, and experiment with emerging AI technologies and industry trends, focusing on generative AI and LLMs.
• Rapidly transform research concepts into working prototypes and production-ready solutions across the full lifecycle.
• Develop solutions leveraging foundation models, retrieval-augmented generation, fine-tuning, and agentic workflows.
• Partner with engineers and product teams to transition prototypes into production environments and ensure scalable deployment.
