Job summary

U.S. Bank is seeking a Principal AI Engineer to accelerate enterprise AI adoption. This senior individual contributor will blend hands-on engineering with technical leadership to identify high-value AI opportunities and deliver secure, scalable, production-ready solutions.

You will design, build, and deploy AI and Generative AI capabilities, collaborate with engineering, product, security, and business teams, and mentor engineers to raise the bank's AI capabilities across the organization.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience.
• Eight or more years of relevant experience.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and deliver enterprise AI and Generative AI solutions from concept through production.
• Develop scalable AI solutions using Python, APIs, pipelines, and cloud AI services.
• Build solutions for complex structured and unstructured information, including document intelligence, data extraction, and workflow automation.
• Apply LLMs, Agentic AI, RAG, and prompt engineering to appropriate business use cases.
• Build reusable AI frameworks, accelerators, components, and integration patterns that improve solution delivery.
• Partner with engineering, product, architecture, security, and business teams to evaluate where AI is the right solution and design practical approaches that fit the enterprise environment.
• Establish strong engineering practices across testing, security, software quality, scalability, and deployment.
• Provide technical leadership, mentor engineering teams, and help expand AI capabilities across the organization.
