Job summary

Santander in Madrid seeks a Senior Product Engineer / AI Solution Architect to design and evolve AI-powered products and integration capabilities across the group. This hands-on, product-oriented role combines software engineering with AI governance, cloud and vendor collaboration.

You will translate roadmaps into technical options, build reusable components and APIs, apply LLM and RAG patterns, and ensure security and compliance with banking standards.

Qualifications

• 6+ years of experience in software engineering, solution architecture, cloud engineering, AI engineering or technical product development.
• Hands-on experience building or evolving digital products and automation tools.
• Practical experience with AI-enabled systems, LLM use cases and workflow automation.
• Experience with APIs, enterprise integrations, cloud services and secure software delivery.
• Experience collaborating with product owners, vendors and delivery teams.
• English proficiency required; Spanish/Portuguese skills preferred.

Responsibilities

• Support the technical evolution of AI-powered integration and migration products, translating roadmap needs into technical options and implementations.
• Design and build reusable components, APIs, connectors, and workflows scalable across integration, migration, modernization, and decommissioning use cases.
• Apply LLMs, agentic AI, RAG patterns and automation to practical enterprise scenarios with internal and vendor teams.
• Define technical guardrails, engineering practices and quality criteria for AI-enabled tools aligned with Santander standards.
• Evaluate vendor solutions and market tools, guiding buy-vs-build decisions and integration into Santander environments.
• Contribute to reference architectures, documentation, and reusable patterns; support PoCs and early adoption phases.
