Job summary

Humana’s CenterWell unit seeks a Senior Full Stack Engineer to design core backend services, REST and GraphQL APIs, and secure service integrations across the AI product stack.

You will lead architecture decisions, implement security patterns with HIPAA in mind, and deliver full-stack features using TypeScript and Next.js/React. This role spans platform and product work across clinics, data systems, and patient-facing apps.

Qualifications

• BS/MS in CS, Engineering, or related field (or equivalent experience).
• 5+ years of software engineering experience in backend and platform engineering.
• Strong proficiency in TypeScript and/or Python for API development.
• Experience building scalable REST or GraphQL APIs.
• Knowledge of authentication, API security, and authorization models.
• Working knowledge of HIPAA requirements for PHI handling.
• Experience with Next.js and React for full-stack work.
• Ownership of complex backend systems end-to-end.

Responsibilities

• Design and lead development of core backend services and APIs.
• Define security patterns and ensure HIPAA-compliant design.
• Integrate AI capabilities into product APIs and tooling.
• Build observability, logging, and reliability infrastructure.
• Deliver full-stack features using TypeScript and Next.js/React.
• Lead architecture reviews and set engineering standards.
