Job summary

Humana seeks a Lead Software Engineer to design and build platform and API layers that support CenterWell's AI product stack. You will shape backend services, secure patterns, and scale the service layer across care teams and patients.

You will contribute to full-stack features using TypeScript and Next.js, emphasizing security, HIPAA compliance, and production operations. This role anchors our growing AI engineering function and requires 8+ years in software engineering with hands-on

Qualifications

• BS or MS in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field (or equivalent).
• 8+ years of software engineering experience, backend & platform focus.
• Proficiency in TypeScript and/or Python for API and service development.
• Proven track record building scalable REST or GraphQL APIs.
• Solid understanding of authentication (OAuth2, OIDC) & authorization models.
• HIPAA knowledge for PHI security and compliant transmission/storage.
• Experience with Next.js/React for full-stack contributions.
• Ownership of complex backend systems end-to-end, from architecture to production.

Responsibilities

• Design and lead development of core backend services and APIs (REST/GraphQL).
• Establish security patterns for authentication, authorization, and audit logging.
• Define AI integration patterns and tooling for product APIs.
• Build observability, logging, and reliability infrastructure at scale.
• Participate in full-stack feature delivery using TypeScript and Next.js.
• Lead architecture reviews and set engineering standards for the team.
