Job summary

Humana Inc. is seeking a Lead Software Engineer to design and lead backend services, API integrations, and AI-enabled platform patterns. You will work on secure, scalable APIs, and contribute to full-stack features using TypeScript and Next.js.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or higher in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field
• 8+ years software engineering experience
• Strong proficiency in TypeScript and/or Python
• Proven track record building scalable REST/GraphQL APIs
• Knowledge of OAuth2/OIDC and API security patterns
• HIPAA security and PHI handling awareness
• Experience with Next.js and React for full-stack work
• Experience owning complex backend systems end-to-end
• Hands-on with AI-assisted development tools and LLM coding harnesses

Responsibilities

• Design and lead core backend services and API integrations
• Establish authentication, authorization, and audit logging patterns
• Define patterns for integrating AI capabilities into product APIs
• Build observability, monitoring, and reliability infrastructure
• Contribute to product features end-to-end using TypeScript and Next.js
• Drive architecture reviews and set backend engineering standards
