Job summary

refurbed, a remote-first leader in Europe’s refurbished products marketplace, is seeking a Senior Backend Engineer for internal AI. You will own internal services, integrations, and deployment pathways from prototype to secure, scalable deployment.

Collaborate with the Head of Internal Technology & AI to align strategy, feasibility, and cost, while ensuring reliability and observability of AI-powered internal tools.

Qualifications

• Experience building and operating production AI-enabled backend services.
• Experience with end-to-end ownership from architecture to deployment and monitoring.
• Familiarity with AI tooling and modern AI development ecosystems.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and operate back-end services for internal AI tools.
• Manage secure deployment paths with guardrails for non-engineers.
• Build shared AI capabilities and central registry of tools and costs.
• Deliver AI services and a standard toolkit for new joiners.
• Evaluate build-vs-buy options for architecture and models.
• Shape the technical direction of the internal AI platform.
