Job summary

Samsara is seeking a Software Engineer to advance core AI platform capabilities and support GenAI-powered applications across the sales funnel. You will design APIs, build reliable backend systems, and collaborate with AI engineers, data scientists, product partners, and sales operators to turn AI use cases into production-ready capabilities.

The role emphasizes distributed systems, GenAI workflows, and integration with LangChain/OpenAI SDK, with a fully remote US-friendly setup.

Qualifications

• 6+ years of professional software engineering experience.
• Hands-on experience building and operating GenAI-powered systems in production.
• Experience designing or implementing GenAI workflows such as prompt orchestration, tool execution, routing, or multi-step reasoning pipelines.
• Proven experience designing and implementing distributed systems that support multi-step execution and asynchronous worklows.
• Strong proficiency in backend programming languages (Python, Java, Go) and building reliable services with clear I/O schemas.
• Expert in Python and GenAI frameworks (LangChain, OpenAI SDK).
• Familiarity with GenAI quality and safety considerations, such as validation, retries/fallbacks, and monitoring approaches.
• Located in and authorized to work in the United States (remote role).

Responsibilities

• Build and evolve core AI platform capabilities for GenAI-powered apps across Samsara.
• Design and implement shared execution patterns, APIs, and services for multi-step workflows.
• Develop reliable, extensible backend systems powering AI-driven experiences across the sales funnel.
• Work hands-on across the stack from backend services to AI model integration.
• Collaborate with AI engineers, data scientists, product partners, and sales operators to productionize AI use cases.
