Job summary

Samsara is seeking a Senior Software Engineer, AI Platform, to lead the design and development of scalable backend systems powering the next generation of AI-driven experiences. You will focus on multi-step AI workflows, model execution, and cross‑product integrations, ensuring correctness and operational excellence across teams.

You’ll partner with AI engineers, data scientists, and product partners to shape platform contracts, shared execution patterns, and production‑grade capabilities.

Qualifications

• 6+ years of professional software engineering experience with backend or platform systems.
• Hands-on GenAI-powered systems in production with LLM integrations.
• Experience designing GenAI workflows such as prompt orchestration and tool execution.
• Distributed systems design for multi-step execution and contracts.
• Backend proficiency in Python/Java/Go and reliable services with clear I/O schemas.
• Expert in Python and GenAI frameworks.
• Familiarity with GenAI safety, validation, retries, and monitoring basics.
• Strong product sense in fast-paced, cross-functional environments.
• Located in and authorized to work in the United States.

Responsibilities

• Build and evolve core AI platform capabilities for GenAI-powered apps.
• Design shared execution patterns, APIs, and services for multi-step workflows.
• Develop reliable backend systems powering AI-driven experiences across the sales funnel.
• Work across the stack from backend to AI model integration and tooling.
