Job summary

CNA Insurance in Chicago seeks a senior platform engineer to own and evolve the Internal Developer Platform (IDP), CI/CD pipelines, and AI-assisted SDLC workflows in a regulated enterprise.

You will lead security-integrated delivery, implement guardrails for AI coding tools, mentor engineers, and partner with security, architecture, and product teams to set platform direction. This role emphasizes observability, policy gates, and scalable delivery to support rapid, safe software releases.

Qualifications

• 7+ years in platform engineering with CI/CD ownership in a regulated, enterprise-scale environment.

Responsibilities

• Own and evolve the Internal Developer Platform (IDP) with self-service catalog and templates.
• Architect and own CI/CD pipelines across Build & Delivery domains; design for reliability, security, and progressive delivery.
• Design and build AI agentic SDLC workflows and evaluation frameworks to ensure safety, accuracy, and auditable outcomes.
• Implement evaluation frameworks for agentic systems and guardrails to keep AI agents within safe operating bounds.
• Drive SBOM generation and container image hardening in delivery pipelines for Kubernetes workloads.
• Contribute to the App Accelerator domain with up-to-date container base images and starter templates for AI-assisted development.
• Operate feature flag and progressive-delivery platforms with kill-switches and safe rollout patterns.
• Embed observability into platform services; own DORA metrics and health dashboards for engineering performance.
• Champion adoption of AI coding assistants and build guardrails and developer workflows for enterprise-scale use.
• Mentor engineers across DevX and App Accelerator; collaborate with security, architecture, and product teams on platform direction.
• Partner with security, infrastructure, architecture, and product engineering counterparts on platform direction and governance.
