Job summary

Citi seeks a Senior AI Application Development Lead to spearhead the architecture and delivery of intelligent, distributed systems within Wealth Technology. You will guide an engineering team, shape roadmaps, and own end-to-end architecture for AI platforms across LLM orchestration, cloud-native infrastructure, and scalable backend services.

Qualifications

• 12+ years of progressive software engineering and architecture experience with a track record of technical leadership and team mentorship.
• Leadership & Architecture: experience leading engineering teams and driving architectural decisions.
• Core languages: strong Python and/or Java, with solid SQL skills.
• Production AI & LLM systems: hands-on experience delivering AI/ML and LLM-driven apps, including RAG, prompt engineering, and orchestration frameworks (LangChain, LlamaIndex, Vertex AI APIs).
• Distributed systems: expertise in designing distributed, event-driven architectures with Kafka or Flink.
• Cloud-Native & container platforms: experience with Kubernetes or OpenShift, AWS or GCP, and Helm.
• Data architecture: PostgreSQL and Redis expertise.
• Education: degree in CS/Software Engineering or related field.
• Ownership mindset: strong sense of ownership and accountability.

Responsibilities

• Provide technical direction and architectural oversight across Wealth Technology squads.
• Coach and mentor engineers, conduct code reviews, and support career growth.
• Drive adoption of modern AI engineering practices and DevSecOps in CI/CD pipelines.
• Partner with business leaders and product managers to translate requirements into technical roadmaps.
• Ensure security, quality governance, and compliance across solutions.
• Architect and prototype AI/ML solutions and deliver production-grade systems.
• Design resilient, low-latency microservices and API gateways.
• Manage cloud-native infrastructure on Kubernetes/OpenShift with CI/CD tooling.
