Job summary

ServiceNow, Inc. in Santa Clara, CA, is seeking a Staff Software Engineer to lead the design and delivery of AI-native, cloud-native systems. This IC4 role owns critical components, guides technical direction, and serves as a resource to peers.

You will work across teams with product management to ensure secure coding practices, and drive platform improvements while balancing latency, cost, and reliability. Mentorship and architecture contributions are expected as well.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of software development experience; or 6+ with a Master's, or 3+ with a PhD.
• 5+ years working with modern cloud-native and AI-native systems.
• 3+ years of hands-on LLM prompt engineering, agent design, and retrieval systems.

Responsibilities

• Lead design and architecture of AI-native, production-critical systems including LLMs and retrieval pipelines.
• Own end-to-end delivery of medium-to-large features with design, implementation, testing, deployment and monitoring.
• Mentor junior engineers and conduct code reviews focusing on prompts, agent logic and AI behavior validation.
• Collaborate with product and other teams to translate requirements and communicate design decisions.
