Job summary

Optum Tech in Minnesota is seeking a Senior Manager of Software Engineering to lead planning, execution, and delivery of strategic technology initiatives across healthcare, AI, and enterprise platform domains.

Based onsite in Minnesota, you will partner with Product Owners, Business Leaders, Architecture, Operations, and Engineering teams to define roadmaps, establish execution governance, and drive end-to-end software delivery.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree or 4+ years of software engineering experience
10+ years of software engineering or technology delivery experience
5+ years of experience leading software engineering teams
Experience managing globally distributed onshore and offshore teams
Experience delivering AI/ML or Generative AI in enterprise apps
Experience with Azure and modern programming languages (Python/Java/.NET)
Experience using AI-enabled productivity tools to boost outputs
Proven ability to partner with business stakeholders and leadership

Responsibilities

Lead planning, execution, and delivery of strategic software initiatives across healthcare, AI, and enterprise platforms
Define roadmaps, priorities, and execution plans with stakeholders
Mentor and manage globally distributed engineering teams
Drive AI/ML adoption, automation, and data-driven solutions
Integrate AI capabilities into team workflows and hiring strategies
Ensure ethical use, governance, and security in AI-enabled development
Promote productivity tools to improve delivery speed and code quality
Establish and monitor delivery metrics and program health
Drive DevOps, CI/CD, release management, and site reliability
