Job summary

Optum is seeking a Senior Manager of AI/ML Engineering in Eden Prairie, MN to lead enterprise-scale AI solutions across pharmacy systems. You will partner with product, software, data science, and executives to align strategy, governance, and deployment practices. Remote work from anywhere in the U.S.

is allowed, with in-office four days per week for Minneapolis/DC-area hires. You will mentor engineers, drive generative AI initiatives, and shape architecture, security, and operational excellence

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or 4+ years of equivalent software engineering experience in lieu of a degree.
• 12+ years of software engineering experience.
• 5+ years of experience managing engineering teams or technical leaders.
• 5+ years delivering enterprise-scale AI, ML, Data, or Cloud platforms.
• 4+ years hands-on Generative AI, LLMs, NLP, and enterprise AI architecture.
• 3+ years with Agentic AI, RAG, AI orchestration, and intelligent automation.

Responsibilities

• Lead and manage engineering teams, managers, and technical leaders for AI/ML solutions.
• Design, develop, deploy AI-powered solutions for healthcare and pharmacy domains.
• Use enterprise AI tools and modern frameworks to optimize workflows.
• Drive AI/ML adoption and scalable architecture across the organization.
• Partner with product, software, and business leaders to align tech with strategy.
• Evaluate emerging technologies to inform solution design and governance.
• Oversee AI governance, model lifecycle (MLOps), security, and ops.
• Mentor and develop engineering talent in AI/ML and cloud platforms.
