Job summary

Mistral is seeking a Systems Engineer / System Administrator to join the Compute team. You will design, operate, and scale Linux environments, HPC clusters, and cloud systems powering AI platforms.

Collaboration with infrastructure, HPC, and research teams is essential to ensure reliability and performance at petabyte-scale data and thousands of nodes. The role emphasizes automation, scale, and cross-functional problem solving in a fast-growing AI systems environment.

Qualifications

• Strong Linux systems administration in large-scale HPC or cloud environments.
• Experience with Slurm and triaging issues across hardware, networks, and software.
• Familiarity with Kubernetes, Ceph/Lustre/NFS, and networking basics.

Responsibilities

• Operate and maintain large-scale Linux environments, clusters, and cloud infrastructure.
• Monitor system health, troubleshoot incidents, and ensure high availability.
• Scale clusters toward hundreds to thousands of nodes and optimize performance.
• Automate tasks with Python, Bash, Ansible, or Terraform for deployment and lifecycle management.
• Contribute to design choices to improve reliability and scalability.
• Work with job schedulers (Slurm) to optimize workload management.
• Collaborate with HPC, infra, and research teams to meet user needs.
• Bridge technical teams and end-users to resolve cross-functional issues.
