Job summary

Northrop Grumman seeks a Senior Principal AI Governance Engineer to join the Data & AI Governance & Strategy organization. This role sits at the intersection of AI development, data security, privacy, risk, and enterprise architecture, translating governance requirements into scalable technical controls, automation, and observability across AI capabilities and platforms.

You will collaborate with Privacy, Legal, Cybersecurity, Global Supply Chain, and other governance bodies to ensure AI

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree with 8+ years or Master’s with 6+ years of relevant experience.
Experience designing, building, or integrating AI/ML systems in an enterprise environment.
Experience with data security, privacy, cybersecurity, or related control environments.
Ability to translate governance, risk, or compliance requirements into technical controls, automated workflows, or monitoring/observability solutions.
Hands-on experience implementing guardrails or standards for complex systems (e.g., access control, audit logging, monitoring).
Experience working with cross-functional stakeholders (Privacy, Legal, Cybersecurity, Compliance, EA).
Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.

Responsibilities

Design and implement AI governance capabilities across the AI lifecycle.
Translate AI policies into technical controls and automated governance workflows.
Develop reusable governance components embedded into AI development and deployment pipelines.
Collaborate with Privacy, Legal, Cybersecurity, Global Supply Chain and other bodies.
Develop enterprise visibility into AI systems and lifecycle management.
