ServiceNow seeks a Principal Engineer for AI Security Governance in Kirkland, WA to own the strategic direction, architecture, and delivery of AI security controls across both enterprise and platform AI tracks. You will drive the program end-to-end, building mature controls and guiding a team through technical authority and mentorship.

Qualifications

• 15+ years of security and software engineering experience, including hands-on technical leadership.
• Deep expertise in AI security—LLM and generative-AI threats, agentic-AI risk, prompt & response protection.
• Strong architecture and engineering skills across cloud and SaaS environments; can build and operate controls.
• Experience with data security tooling (DSPM/AISPM, DLP, CASB) and identity controls.
• Ability to translate complex risk into executive, board, and auditor communications.
• Familiarity with compliance standards and Agile practices; able to collaborate across teams.

Responsibilities

• Own the vision, strategy, and roadmap for the AI Security Governance Program across five pillars.
• Architect controls for enterprise-AI and platform-AI tracks; keep governance paths distinct.
• Deploy, configure, and mature security controls hands-on, including AI detection and response.
• Drive security operations toward AI-automated workflows with repeatable automation.
• Close high-severity gaps in AI data protection and shadow AI.
• Provide leadership and mentorship to engineers and cross-functional partners.
• Present technical risk narratives to executives, board, and Audit Committee.
