Job summary

Bank of America is seeking a Sr. Data Architect with expertise in AI controls, responsible AI, and data governance to design secure AI ecosystems and robust data architectures.

You will establish guardrails, assess control maturity across platforms, and collaborate with Risk, Compliance, and InfoSec to ensure enterprise governance alignment. The role requires 10+ years in data/AI architecture, strong programming skills, and hands-on experience with Databricks, Snowflake, and Azure data

Qualifications

• 10+ years in data architecture, ML/AI engineering, or enterprise architecture roles.
• Deep expertise in AI governance, risk management, and Responsible AI frameworks.
• Strong knowledge of enterprise data governance, lineage, metadata, and privacy controls.
• Hands-on experience with modern data platforms (Databricks, Snowflake, Azure Data Lake, Synapse).
• Proficiency with AI infrastructure (vector databases, LLM orchestration).
• Strong programming and data engineering skills (Python, SQL, Spark).
• Experience architecting secure cloud-native solutions (Azure preferred).

Responsibilities

• Partner with technology teams to establish data solutions and architecture for large initiatives.
• Develop concise responses to senior management questions about data architecture strategy.
• Manage competing priorities in a matrixed environment with attention to detail.
• Communicate effectively to influence agreement and escalate blockers as needed.
• Ensure compliance with risk, financial, and regulatory policies and standards.
• Foster inclusive collaboration with business and tech partners to resolve impediments.
• Educate teams on enterprise data architectural principles and processes.
• Design and govern AI controls architectures and data protection patterns.
• Evaluate tools for explainability, bias detection, drift monitoring, and auditability.
• Collaborate with Risk, Compliance, Model Risk Management, and InfoSec to align controls.
