Job summary

SamCart Inc. is seeking a senior/lead engineer to own end-to-end development in a PHP/Laravel monolith with a React/Next.js front end. You will work closely with product managers to scope, validate, and ship features, leveraging Claude Code and AI-assisted workflows.

The role emphasizes architecture, execution, and mentoring within a fast-moving startup environment. East Coast presence is preferred, with remote collaboration and quarterly in-person gatherings.

Qualifications

• 6+ years building and shipping production web applications.
• Able to explain tradeoffs behind system design and choices.
• AI-native: comfortable with AI-first workflows and tooling.

Responsibilities

• Take problems from briefs to shipped and stable solutions with AI-assisted coding.
• Make architecture calls in a PHP/React/Next.js stack and refactor thoughtfully.
• Review AI output with a senior engineer mindset to catch inaccuracies.
• Own your work in production: ship, monitor, and fix as needed.
• Improve AI workflows, MCP tooling, and test coverage for safety.
