Job summary

PortX, Inc. seeks a Senior AI Experience Engineer in Seattle to design and deliver AI-powered features across web and mobile apps.

You will build production-ready AI experiences using LLMs, agents, and external APIs, focusing on intuitive, user-led interfaces and scalable workflows. You will prototype advanced AI capabilities, integrate third-party AI services, and collaborate with product, design, and backend teams to ensure high-quality experiences.

Qualifications

• At least 5 years of software engineering experience, backend or full-stack preferred.
• Advanced Python skills with production services experience.
• Experience creating AI agents using LangChain, Semantic Kernel, or similar.
• APIs and UI work with modern JS frameworks (React).
• Knowledge of foundation model APIs (OpenAI, Anthropic, Cohere, Google).
• Prompt engineering, tool chaining, and LLM-driven interactions.
• REST, embeddings, vector stores, and AI performance assessment.

Responsibilities

• Build AI-powered product features using OpenAI, Claude, Vertex AI, and custom APIs.
• Prototype and evolve smart user experiences including chat and workflows.
• Embed third-party AI services into web and mobile products with security and scalability.
• Collaborate with product, design, and UX to shape AI functionality.
• Optimize prompts, orchestration, and fallback mechanisms for consistency.
• Coordinate with data/backend teams to ensure reliable data for AI apps.
• Track and improve live AI experiences via analytics and experiments.
