Job summary

RWE Americas, LLC is seeking a Senior AI Engineer I to own end‑to‑end AI capabilities within a product line. You will design, build, deploy, monitor, and maintain AI solutions, including retrieval pipelines, model logic, and integration with source systems.

You will train models, evaluate performance, manage inference costs and latency, and implement AI security controls with human‑in‑the‑loop approaches. The role emphasizes production readiness and collaboration across teams.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, data science, another STEM field, or a related discipline required
• Minimum 5 years of relevant experience in software or AI/ML engineering roles, including ownership of AI/ML capabilities end to end
• Depth in two or three of the capability areas listed under Basic Function, with familiarity across the rest
• Production experience with Python and SQL, a major cloud platform, version control and code review, containerized deployment, and CI/CD for AI products/services
• Hands‑on experience with orchestration, agent, and retrieval frameworks
• ML models developed for supervised and unsupervised problems
• Experience building/evaluating AIML eval/regression tests
• AI-specific security and responsible AI controls knowledge
• Competent use of coding agents/AI-assisted tooling and task scoping
• Experience with IT/OT environments or industrial data sources preferred
• Experience in power/utilities/clean energy sector preferred

Responsibilities

• Design, build, operate, and own end‑to‑end AI capabilities within a product or across multiple products, including retrieval/context, model/agentic logic, APIs, monitoring, and runbook maintenance
• Train/evaluate ML models for classification, regression, anomaly detection, clustering, and forecasting
• Build retrieval/context pipelines against enterprise content with tagging and metadata strategy
• Design/maintain evaluation including offline evals, AI/LLM as judge, and regression tests
• Own inference cost and latency in production and optimize to targets
• Implement human‑in‑the‑loop and AI security controls (shadow/assisted modes, safeguards, audit trails)
• Handover components from partners and maintain in production
• Improve team efficiency via reusable components and code review
