Job summary

T. Rowe Price is seeking a Senior Software Engineer for its AI Engineering team in Baltimore, MD. You will design, build, and scale production‑grade AI agents and intelligent systems, leading workstreams and mentoring engineers while partnering with business teams to enable broad adoption.

You will evaluate emerging AI technologies, manage trade‑offs, and ensure quality, reliability, and security in production environments. The role supports hybrid work up to three days from home.

Qualifications

• BS or MS in Computer Science or related field, or equivalent practical experience.
• 5+ years of professional software engineering experience.
• Hands-on development in Python, Java, or JavaScript/TypeScript.
• Hands-on experience building AI-enabled applications and agentic systems.
• Experience with AI engineering patterns such as orchestration, tooling and retrieval-based systems.

Responsibilities

• Own end-to-end design and delivery of production-grade AI agents and intelligent systems.
• Design agentic workflows using orchestration and retrieval-based approaches.
• Collaborate with product owners to translate needs into scalable AI solutions.
• Lead technical workstreams from experimentation to production adoption.
• Establish testing, quality metrics, and monitoring for non-deterministic AI systems.
• Make informed trade-offs across models, prompts, context, tools, latency, and security.
• Contribute to reusable AI capabilities and patterns across teams.
• Lead code and design reviews and mentor engineers.
• Own technical debt and improve system reliability and maintainability.
• Evaluate new AI technologies for meaningful business value.
• Prepare AI solutions for long-term ownership and scale.
