T. Rowe Price Lab in New York, NY invites a Lead AI Software Engineer to join our AI Engineering squad. You will lead architecture, design, and delivery of production-grade AI agents and intelligent systems, guiding incubation of new AI products.

This hands-on leadership role requires deep software and AI expertise, mentoring engineers, and setting standards for observability, guardrails, and secure deployment, partnering with business teams to scale AI across the firm.

Qualifications

• BS or MS in Computer Science or related field, or equivalent practical experience.
• 8+ years of progressive software engineering experience.
• Experience designing AI-enabled systems and production-grade AI agents.
• Experience with AI engineering patterns such as agent orchestration, tool use, retrieval-based systems, evaluation, observability, guardrails, and failure handling.
• Ability to architect production AI systems and trade-offs across models, latency, cost, security, and maintainability.

Responsibilities

• Lead architecture, design, development, deployment, and evolution of complex production-grade AI agents and intelligent systems.
• Set technical direction for AI solutions, balancing model capability, latency, cost, and security.
• Mentor engineers and lead reviews across teams on AI projects.
• Guide reusable AI platform components and guardrails across modules.
• Drive incubation of new AI products and production adoption at scale.
