Job summary

Cisco Systems, Inc is hiring a Senior Staff Applied Scientist to lead research and deployment of next‑generation AI systems for automated code generation. You will define roadmaps for agentic GenAI, enabling models that reason, plan, and integrate with tools to enhance developer workflows.

You will mentor a research team, advance DSL-aware code synthesis, and drive scalable training/inference pipelines while collaborating with product and engineering to deliver high-impact capabilities.

Qualifications

• PhD in Computer Science, ML, AI, or related field and 5+ years post-doc/industry experience; or Master’s with 10+ years industry experience.
• 3+ years experience in developing Large Language Models for program synthesis or formal languages
• 2+ years experience in multi-step planning or agentic AI for developer workflows
• 3+ years experience with Python and deep learning frameworks (PyTorch or TensorFlow)
• 3+ years experience translating research prototypes into production systems, including model deployment and optimization

Responsibilities

• Own the full lifecycle of research and deployment of next-generation AI systems for intelligent code generation.
• Define the scientific roadmap for agentic GenAI enabling models that reason, plan, self-correct, and integrate with tools.
• Advance DSL-aware code synthesis for future developer experiences powered by LLMs across workflows.
• Drive efficiency and scalability of distributed training and inference pipelines balancing performance, latency, and cost.
• Collaborate with engineering and product to translate AI breakthroughs into high-impact customer capabilities.
• Mentor and elevate a high-performing research organization with rigorous science and delivery excellence.
• Shape long-term AI strategy and investment decisions across GenAI.
