Job summary

Cisco Systems, Inc is seeking a Senior AI Researcher to advance Generative AI for networking automation and human-computer interaction. You will explore domain-specific foundational representations and publish research to strengthen Cisco's leadership in AI.

You will collaborate with engineers and strategists, driving pre-training initiatives and guiding model development for security, observability, and data-center workloads. This role is hybrid, based in Cisco's Seattle or San Jose offices.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's in computer science + 7 years related experience, or Masters + 4 years, or PhD + 1 year.
• Experience with LLM pre-training and post-training in industry or academic research lab.
• Minimum of 3 publications in top AI venues (ACL, EMNLP, ICLR, ICML, NAACL, NeurIPS)
• Experience with ML models and frameworks such as TensorFlow, PyTorch, Hugging Face or equivalents.
• Prior experience driving research projects within industry or university research labs.

Responsibilities

• Build and advance research in Generative AI for networking automation and HCI.
• Publish papers, give talks, organize workshops to establish Cisco as a thought leader.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to translate research into business solutions.
• Drive pre-training initiatives to create foundational models with differentiative value.
• Contribute to security, observability, and data-center domains with proprietary models.
