Job summary

Splunk, a Cisco company, is seeking a Senior Staff Applied Scientist to lead research and deployment of next-generation AI systems for intelligent code generation. You will define the scientific roadmap for agentic GenAI and drive DSL-aware code synthesis across enterprise-scale platforms.

You will mentor a high-performing research team and collaborate with engineering and product to translate breakthroughs into customer-ready capabilities, shaping the GenAI roadmap for Splunk Observability,

Qualifications

• PhD in Computer Science, Machine Learning, AI or related field with 5+ years industry/post-doc experience; or Master’s with 10+ years industry experience.
• 3+ years building LLMs for program synthesis or DSLs.
• 2+ years in multi-step planning or agentic AI for developer workflows.
• 3+ years with Python and DL frameworks (PyTorch, TensorFlow).
• 3+ years translating research prototypes to production systems.

Responsibilities

• Own full lifecycle of research and deployment of next-generation AI systems for code generation.
• Define scientific roadmap for agentic GenAI enabling models that reason, plan, self-correct and integrate with tools.
• Advance DSL-aware code synthesis and impact on developer experiences across workflows.
• Improve efficiency and scalability of distributed training and inference pipelines.
• Collaborate with engineering/product to translate AI breakthroughs into customer capabilities.
• Mentor and elevate a high-performing research organization.
• Shape long-term AI strategy and roadmap across GenAI.
