Job summary

Thread AI, Inc. in New York City is seeking a senior software engineer to work with federal customers, building AI workflows and integrations on Lemma. You will own the architecture and production code through deployment and ongoing operation.

You will partner with an Applied AI Strategist to lead workflow discovery, coordinate with customers, and drive platform improvements. This is a senior individual contributor role with direct customer responsibility.

Qualifications

• Five or more years of software engineering experience delivering production systems.
• Strong programming skills in Python, TypeScript/JavaScript, or Java.
• Experience building APIs or integrations with databases and data pipelines.
• Hands-on experience with AI/ML applications and evaluating outputs.
• Experience working directly with users or customer engineers to gather requirements.
• Clear communication about progress and technical risks.

Responsibilities

• Define problems with users, map dependencies, and plan first deployment.
• Write production code connecting APIs, data sources, and Lemma; build workflows.
• Evaluate AI behavior, define quality checks, and determine review needs.
• Deploy and operate solutions with engineering teams; diagnose failures.
• Document technical decisions and operating procedures.
• Turn recurring needs into reusable integrations and contribute to core platform.
• Assist Growth in assessing feasibility and scope evaluations.
