Job summary

Plains All American, headquartered in Houston, seeks a Senior Advisor of AI Engineering to design and implement AI-enabled solutions. You will lead backend services in Python, define retrieval-augmented patterns, and orchestrate agent-style workflows, aligning with enterprise security and governance.

You will guide product teams and fellow engineers, shaping scalable AI architectures and ensuring production readiness across cloud environments, data governance, and platform integration.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Data Science, Mathematics, or related field.
• Advanced degree is considered an asset.
• Senior level experience in software engineering with production-grade systems.
• Experience leading or influencing technical design decisions across complex solutions.
• Hands-on experience building backend services and APIs.
• Experience operating in enterprise cloud environments with security constraints and data governance considerations.

Responsibilities

• Lead the technical design of AI-enabled applications that support enterprise business workflows, including copilots and intelligent automations.
• Define and apply standard patterns for Retrieval Augmented Generation, including data ingestion, chunking strategies, embeddings, vector indexing, retrieval logic, and grounding techniques.
• Design orchestration approaches for AI applications, including tool calling, agent workflows, and enterprise integrations.
• Partner with Platform teams to ensure AI solutions align with enterprise architecture, security, data governance, and cloud standards.
• Act as a technical advisor to Product Owners, translating business intent into feasible, scalable solution designs.
• Mentor and guide other engineers, raising overall engineering and AI maturity.
