Job summary

Plains Marketing seeks a Senior Advisor, AI Engineering to design, build, and guide AI-enabled solutions. You will focus on Retrieval Augmented Generation, orchestration, and enterprise integration, partnering with Platform and Product Owners to shape scalable patterns.

Strong software fundamentals and architectural thinking are essential; deep AI experience is not required. You will mentor engineers and lead governance, risk, and security considerations across the AI program.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Data Science, Mathematics, or a related field.
• Advanced degree is considered an asset.

Responsibilities

• Lead the technical design of AI-enabled applications that support enterprise workflows.
• Define and apply patterns for Retrieval Augmented Generation, including data ingestion, embeddings, vector indexing, retrieval, and grounding.
• Design orchestration approaches for AI apps, including tool calling and agent workflows.
• Partner with Platform teams to align AI solutions with enterprise architecture, security, data governance, and cloud standards.
• Act as a technical advisor to Product Owners, translating business intent into scalable design.
• Build and maintain backend services and APIs in Python.
• Review designs and code, set engineering quality standards.
• Balance rapid experimentation with disciplined engineering to move prototypes to production.
• Design integration patterns with SQL sources, lakehouse, and document repositories.
• Advise on tooling including Azure AI services and Databricks Apps.
• Lead AI governance forums, design reviews, and risk assessments.
• Mentor engineers and raise AI application maturity.
• Stay current with applied AI trends and translate into practical guidance.
