Job summary

Expedia Group in Washington state is hiring a Principal AI Forward Deployed Engineer to embed with business units, translate challenges into measurable AI outcomes, and rapidly prototype, productionize, and scale AI-powered solutions.

You will coach senior engineers, partner with executives, and set reusable patterns, tools, and playbooks to advance AI responsibly at scale while keeping travelers, partners, and employees at the center.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree with 12+ years of professional software engineering experience or a master's with 10+ years.
• Ownership of complex systems, workflows or platforms that support a business unit and integrate with broader Expedia Group systems.
• Deep expertise in professional software engineering practices across the full software development life cycle.

Responsibilities

• Partner with business units and stakeholders to discover high-value AI opportunities and define measurable outcomes.
• Lead as a forward-deployed technical leader, guiding teams through delivery, adoption and value realization.
• Own the full lifecycle of AI initiatives from discovery to production deployment and scale.
• Translate ambiguous problems into measurable outcomes, data requirements and scalable AI-enabled systems.
• Define a north-star AI technology vision for a domain and communicate trade-offs and value.
• Design complex systems spanning multiple teams, ensuring reliability, security and maintainability.
• Evaluate models, platforms, and patterns for AI use cases including retrieval and orchestration.
• Establish and evangelize AI engineering standards across teams, including security and privacy.
