Job summary

EY is seeking an experienced AI/ML engineer to build autonomous agents capable of operating in complex enterprise workflows. You will design deterministic execution models, craft durable context, and implement secure, auditable behavior across long-running processes.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field.
• 7–9 years of software or applied ML engineering experience with ownership of production systems.
• Hands-on evidence of shipping LLM apps, agents, or complex model-driven workflows.
• Strong Python, TypeScript, or similar language production experience.
• Experience with model APIs, structured outputs, retrieval, tool use, and evaluation.
• Distributed execution, asynchronous work, state, concurrency, retries, failure recovery.
• Experience implementing access boundaries and scoped authority.
• Travel up to 50% and hybrid in-office requirements.

Responsibilities

• Design agent architectures with deterministic steps or simple loops when justified.
• Build dependable connectors and interfaces with clear contracts and error handling.
• Engineer agent behavior across planning, routing, delegation, and handoffs.
• Create durable context combining instructions, user state, and environment feedback.
• Implement scoped identities, credentials, budgets, and emergency containment.
• Measure verified task success, tool use, recovery, and human takeover across trajectories.
• Operate long-running execution with durable state, checkpointing, and safe retries.
• Make behavior observable with end-to-end traces and replay for failures.
• Protect user control with intervention points to inspect or resume work.
• Collaborate across product, platform, knowledge, security, and evaluation teams.
