Job summary

EY is seeking a senior AI/ML engineering leader to build and operate long-running, agent-based workflows that span enterprise integrations. You will shape deterministic vs autonomous execution, design tools and runtimes, and ensure safety, visibility, and controllability across complex, production-grade systems.

You will work across product, platform, knowledge, security, and evaluation teams, delivering scalable agent patterns and durable remediation in a hybrid, travel‑heavy role in the US.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in a relevant field.
• 9-12+ years of relevant experience.
• Strong production systems ownership with live behavior.
• Hands-on shipping of large‑language‑model apps, agents, or complex model-driven workflows.
• Proficiency in Python, TypeScript, or similar production languages.
• Experience with asynchronous execution, state, concurrency, and retries.
• Ability to implement access boundaries and scoped authority.
• Travel up to 50% and hybrid office attendance.

Responsibilities

• Choose execution models for agent architectures based on measured performance.
• Build dependable tools with clear contracts and controlled authorization.
• Engineer agent behavior across planning, routing, and handoffs.
• Create durable context using instructions, user state, and environment feedback.
• Bound agent authority with scoped identities and budgets.
• Evaluate complete trajectories with tests for verified task success and safe recovery.
• Operate long-running execution with durable state and graceful degradation.
• Make behavior observable via end-to-end traces and replay.
• Protect user control with clear intervention points.
• Collaborate across product, platform, security, and evaluation teams.
