Job summary

EY is seeking an experienced AI/Distributed Systems Engineer to build and operate long-running agent workflows, integrate enterprise tools, and ensure safe, observable autonomous systems. Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field is required.
• 9–12+ years of relevant experience in software or applied machine-learning engineering.
• Hands-on evidence of shipping LLM apps, agents, or complex model-driven workflows.

Responsibilities

• Choose execution models and architect deterministic or single-agent loops where justified.
• Build dependable tools with clear contracts and controlled errors.
• Engineer agent behavior for planning, routing, delegation, and handoffs across workflows.
• Create durable context combining instructions, user state, memory and feedback while preserving provenance.
• Bound agent authority with scoped identities, credentials, budgets and approvals.
• Evaluate complete trajectories using tests that measure verified task success and recovery.
• Operate long-running execution with durable state, checkpointing and safe retries.
• Make behavior observable with end-to-end traces and replay for failure analysis.
• Protect user control by designing clear intervention points for human input.
• Build shared capability by collaborating with product, platform and security teams.
