Job summary

Optum is seeking an experienced engineer to design agentic AI solutions for healthcare, blending end-to-end delivery with production-grade engineering. You will work across LLMs, ML models, and APIs, delivering production-ready AI applications and intelligent automation.

You will lead client engagements, evaluate trade-offs, and collaborate with product and engineering teams to scale reusable capabilities in client deployments. Remote US-based role with strong security, scalability, and impact.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in CS/Engineering/Data Science or related field.
• 5+ years hands-on software engineering deploying distributed systems and cloud-native solutions.
• 5+ years Python development experience (or equivalent).
• Experience building AI/ML solutions, including LLMs, prompt engineering, and deployment patterns.
• Experience with infrastructure as code in Azure.
• Proficiency with APIs and data integration approaches.
• Proven ability to lead client engagements and manage stakeholders across groups.

Responsibilities

• Design agentic solutions aligned to healthcare requirements with security and compliance.
• Architect end-to-end systems integrating LLMs, ML models, APIs, and enterprise platforms.
• Evaluate trade-offs and communicate recommendations to stakeholders.
• Deliver production-ready AI applications including LLM workflows and automation.
• Integrate AI agents into client environments to optimize performance and reliability.
• Prototype quickly, iterate with client feedback, accelerate time-to-value.
• Troubleshoot complex issues across distributed systems and cloud platforms.
• Build evaluation datasets, scoring rubrics, agent tests, and failure analyses.
• Bridge business, clinical, and technical perspectives; ensure clarity across groups.
• Collaborate to bring reusable capabilities into client deployments and production threading.
