Job summary

Pratt & Whitney is seeking a Principal Structures Engineer to join our Assembly Equipment Engineering Design team in Middletown. You will analyze and refine uniquely designed assembly equipment for development and production of the world’s most advanced aircraft engines, collaborating with engineers across design, project, process, assembly and test.

You will lead strength analyses, report findings, mentor junior staff, and contribute to process improvements while traveling up to 10% as needed.

Qualifications

• Bachelor degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM).
• 8 years of engineering experience or an Advanced Degree with 5 years of experience.
• Experience with a FEA (Finite Element Analysis) software or 3D modeling software.
• Ability to obtain government security clearance.

Responsibilities

• Perform strength analyses using classical methods and FEA tools (e.g. ANSYS Workbench), defining FEA model requirements, conducting analyses, and preparing detailed reports.
• Create detailed engineering reports, share findings with internal stakeholders, and present design reviews to internal and external customers as required.
• Contribute to internal initiatives focused on developing methods and technologies to enhance engineering processes and reduce NPI cycle time.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams during product development while effectively prioritizing tasks, meeting deadlines, and ensuring clear communication in a fast-paced environment.
• Mentor junior and new engineers in learning and developing structural engineering skills.
• Travel is up to 10%.
