Job summary

Pratt & Whitney in Middletown, CT is seeking a Principal Structures Engineer to join our Assembly Equipment Engineering Design team. You will analyze and refine assembly equipment for development and production of advanced aircraft engines, collaborating with a wide range of engineers across design, project, process, assembly and test.

The role emphasizes leadership, mentoring, and delivering reliable engineering solutions within a fast-paced environment. Travel up to 10% is expected.

Qualifications

• Bachelor degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM).
• 8 years of engineering experience or an Advanced Degree with 5 years of experience.
• Experience with a FEA (Finite Element Analysis) software or 3D modeling software.
• Ability to obtain government security clearance.

Responsibilities

• Structural analysis using classical methods and FEA tools (e.g. ANSYS Workbench).
• Create detailed engineering reports, share findings with internal stakeholders, and present design reviews to internal and external customers as required.
• Develop methods and technologies to enhance engineering processes and reduce new product introduction (NPI) cycle time.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams during product development while effectively prioritizing tasks, meeting deadlines, and ensuring clear communication in a fast-paced environment.
• Mentor junior and new engineers in learning and developing structural engineering skills.
• Travel is up to 10%.
