Job summary

RTX is seeking an experienced Software Quality Assurance professional for the East Hartford site. The role focuses on audits, DO-178B/C compliance, and collaboration with development teams to ensure high safety standards in avionics software.

The position requires a bachelor’s degree in a related field and at least 5 years of software engineering experience in avionics or 3+ years with an advanced degree, plus hands-on ARINC and embedded C expertise. Security clearance is mandatory.

Qualifications

• Must have 5+ years in software engineering in avionics or 3+ years with advanced degree.
• 3+ years with ARINC communications (ARINC 429/661/664/615A) and embedded C.
• DO-178B/C, DO-330/331/332, ARP-4754, FAA SOI and/or TSO certifications for safety critical systems.

Responsibilities

• Perform audits to ensure software development, verification and QA meet DO-178B/C and regulatory requirements.
• Approve software planning documents and deliverables for release to military and commercial customers.
• Execute the process assurance function for system lifecycle activities.
• Support external audits by customers, regulators and certification bodies.
• Generate QA records in a timely manner.
• Collaborate with development to identify non-conformances and deviations.
• Drive process improvements and defect elimination within QA.
