Job summary

Astrion in Columbia, MD seeks a Senior Aerospace SME – Coding to develop high-fidelity models of aerospace and missile systems. You will work on trajectory models, 3DOF/6DOF simulations, and software tools, collaborating with government customers and multidisciplinary teams.

Requirements include MS in Aerospace Engineering, 4+ years of related experience (2 with a PhD), and strong skills in Python, MATLAB, and C/C++. TS/SCI clearance is required for this position.

Qualifications

• Must hold US citizenship and be able to obtain DoD TS/SCI clearance.
• MS in Aerospace Engineering or related field required.
• Minimum 4 years of work experience (2 years with a PhD).
• Significant experience in aerospace modeling, simulation, or related field.
• Strong understanding of vehicle dynamics and trajectory analysis.
• Experience developing physics-based numerical models or simulations.
• Proficient in Python, MATLAB, C/C++, or similar languages.
• Strong analytical and mathematical problem-solving skills.
• Ability to communicate complex technical concepts to customers and teams.

Responsibilities

• Develop, integrate, verify, and analyze high-fidelity models and simulations of aerospace and missile systems.
• Perform trajectory modeling and analysis, including 3DOF and 6DOF simulations.
• Develop methods for trajectory estimation, optimization, and prediction.
• Analyze vehicle dynamics, aerodynamics, guidance, navigation, and control systems.
• Develop analytical and numerical methods to characterize performance of advanced systems.
• Create software tools to support analysis, modeling, simulation, data analysis, and visualization.
• Apply Monte Carlo and uncertainty quantification to assess model performance.
• Analyze test data to estimate vehicle characteristics and assess configurations.
• Support development, validation, and performance assessment of physics-based models.
