Job summary

The Aerospace Corporation is seeking a Modeling and Simulation Software Architect (Engineering Specialist – Systems and Modeling and Simulation Engineer) to deliver software-intensive systems for government and commercial customers.

This on-site role requires leadership across cross-disciplinary teams, mentoring of junior staff, and close collaboration with program offices. A TS/SCI clearance with polygraph and citizenship considerations apply; travel to customer locations is possible.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or higher in CS/Software Engineering or related STEM field.
• 6+ years of modeling and simulation experience.
• Proficiency in C++ for production software.
• Experience with modern software development, integration, and testing practices.
• Ability to lead software projects and mentor junior staff.
• Experience with CM tools (Bitbucket, Jira, GitHub) in team settings.
• Strong written and verbal communication to collaborate across teams.
• Willingness to travel occasionally; ability to obtain security clearance.

Responsibilities

• Provide deep technical expertise and leadership on modeling, simulation, and analysis capabilities.
• Lead customer engagement on modeling workflows with program offices and external customers.
• Serve as main contact for programs and activities for department-level efforts.
• Mentor junior staff in one or more focus areas.
• Develop and present briefings and reports on software progress and design solutions.
• Manage development and maintenance of one or more M&S tools and workflows.
• Engage with users to refine capability requirements; travel as needed.
