Job summary

eXaminArt LLC is seeking a highly motivated aerospace/mechanical engineer to contribute to planetary analytical instruments under NASA contracts and to the development of commercial products. The role spans mechanical, system, electrical engineering and software programming with mentorship to junior staff.

As part of a small R&D team, you will design, build, test systems, interface with vendors, and assist proposal/report writing. Opportunities for space flight exist in near-term projects.

Qualifications

• MS degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or Robotics.
• 5+ years of experience, preferably with space-deployed systems.
• Strong knowledge of engineering and physics concepts.
• Excellent project management skills.
• Fluent in SolidWorks 3D modeling.
• Experience with FEA for thermal and structural analysis.
• Experience with electronics integration and cabling.
• Experience with high/ultra-high vacuum hardware and operation.
• Experience with Python coding.
• Strong problem-solving and communication skills.
• Ability to mentor junior engineers or students.
• Authorized to work in the United States on ITAR tasks.

Responsibilities

• Manage technical tasks of NASA R&D projects with timely design, manufacturing, and testing.
• Support technical tasks of new product development and design improvement.
• Develop and manage system specifications, transform requirements into architecture and hardware options.
• Create and maintain CAD models and drawings; apply analytical methods and FEA.
• Develop system architecture models and documentation.
• Oversee component procurement, fabrication of prototypes, and GSE.
• Manage systems integration, testing, and troubleshooting.
• Maintain cryo-vac and other test equipment for prototypes and flight tests.
• Plan and execute Test and Validation for mid/high TRL systems.
• Develop Python code for system control, data acquisition, and processing.
• Write procedures, reports and technical docs; communicate results to leadership.
