Job summary

AV is seeking a senior mechanical engineer to lead design and analysis for space hardware projects across GEO, MEO, LEO, and Cislunar missions. The role requires extensive experience in structural and thermal analysis, CAD design (preferably SolidWorks), and hands-on hardware integration.

The candidate will guide multidisciplinary teams through design reviews, testing, and documentation, ensuring high reliability in extreme environments and compliance with ITAR requirements.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in mechanical or aerospace engineering.
• 12 years of mechanical engineering experience in space systems or related fields.
• Structural and thermal analysis including analytical calculations and FEA.
• Design using CAD software, ideally SolidWorks.
• Tolerance analysis and GD&T practices.
• Space hardware design, analysis, integration, and test.
• Strong technical writing skills for engineering documentation.

Responsibilities

• Provide engineering design and analysis leadership to R&D programs and small-volume production contracts.
• Lead the structural and thermal analysis of mechanical systems for space and airborne hardware.
• Work within a multi-disciplined project team.
• Responsible for mechanical design and analysis activity and support integration and test activities.
• Projects range from packaging high-reliability electronics to opto-mechanical mechanisms such as gimbal systems.
• Other duties as assigned.
