Job summary

Kratos Defense & Security Solutions, Inc. is seeking a senior design engineer to lead mechanical/structures work for aerospace hardware. You will design components from composites and metals, integrate hardware into tight assemblies, and develop fluid systems while preparing formal documentation and reviews.

The role requires 15+ years of engineering experience and 3+ years leading aerospace projects, with CATIA/3DEXPERIENCE and PLM familiarity supporting innovative defense solutions.

Qualifications

• Requires BS degree in Engineering (Mechanical/Aerospace) or equivalent.
• 15+ years related engineering experience.
• 3+ years lead engineer experience in aerospace.
• Experience with CAD/PLM and manufacturing knowledge for composites and metallic hardware.

Responsibilities

• Designs components from composite and metallic materials and develops mechanical fluid systems.
• Prepares formal engineering documentation (drawings, specs, parts lists, ICDs) and uses CAD to document models and drawings.
• Applies GD&T and performs tolerance studies to ensure affordable designs.
• Prepares and presents design review materials for meetings with suppliers and customers.
• Supports systems engineering and ensures designs meet customer requirements and derived requirements.
• Assists with flight testing, data reduction, analysis, and reporting.
