Job summary

Blue Origin LLC in Colorado is seeking a Senior Manufacturing Engineer to design and optimize aerospace manufacturing processes for space components and systems. You will lead process improvements, develop work instructions, and collaborate with design engineers to ensure manufacturability and safe, reliable production.

The role requires 8+ years in aerospace manufacturing, knowledge of lean methods, CAD/CAM, and quality systems such as AS9100/ISO9001.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree or higher in Manufacturing Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or a related field.
8+ years' experience with manufacturing processes relevant to aerospace applications.
Knowledge of lean manufacturing principles and continuous improvement methodologies.
Proficiency with CAD/CAM software and manufacturing simulation tools.
Experience with process documentation and implementation of manufacturing work instructions.
Familiarity with quality systems and manufacturing standards (AS9100, ISO9001).
Ability to earn trust, maintain positive and professional relationships.

Responsibilities

Design and implement efficient manufacturing processes and assembly methods.
Create and maintain manufacturing documentation including work instructions, process specifications, and standard operating procedures.
Support production planning and scheduling to ensure on-time delivery.
Perform process capability studies and implement statistical process control methods.
Lead continuous improvement initiatives to enhance quality, reduce costs, and increase efficiency.
Troubleshoot manufacturing issues and drive root cause analysis.
Collaborate with design engineering to ensure manufacturability and design for manufacturing principles.
Develop tooling and fixture requirements for manufacturing operations.
Support new product introductions and technology transfer to production.
Perform manufacturing risk assessments and implement mitigation strategies.
Ensure compliance with safety standards and regulatory requirements.
Participate in cross-functional teams for Design for Manufacturing (DFM), Design Failure Mode Effects Analysis (DFMEA), and Root Cause Investigations.
Support production floor operations and provide technical guidance to production teams.
